VTEX evolutionary support for Marcimex
Marcimex is a company with more than 65 years in the household goods market with more than 70 points of service in Ecuador. It offers its customers constant promotions, special prices and discounts, offering appliances, tools and household items, and provides direct financing through its direct credit.
Client’s need
Marcimex needed day-to-day support for its VTEX store, internal management of the platform and frontend internal corrections, among other things. They also required advice, consulting and implementations on their VTEX store to meet four macro objectives of the company.
Objectives
1) Become a marketplace: One of Marcimex’s 2020 goals was to become a store that also sold third party products as they previously only sold their own products. Known Online made all the internal adaptations and helped them in the negotiations and onboarding of new sellers to incorporate VTEX to VTEX format sellers to sell on the Marcimex platform.
2) Enable pick up points: As the company has an extensive geographic presence in Ecuador with several physical stores, they needed customers to be able to buy on the website and then pick up their products at the stores. Known Online performed tasks from the technical (integrations and development) and operational point of view. The company needed that when a user made a purchase on the web, the store would know that they were going to pick it up so that everything would be organized in an optimal way to avoid logistical problems. Training was also provided to those responsible for the points of sale so that they would know how to operate when they receive an online sale and thus work successfully. The VTEX architecture was adapted to work with franchise accounts and whitelabel sellers to allow optimal management of the solution.
3) Optimize site performance: We worked on optimizing how queries are made at frontend level, optimizing all the processes performed by the site when a user browses it.
4) Sale of intangibles (sale of warranty or protected purchase vouchers): Known Online developed all the internal logic so that Marcimex’s VTEX site could sell products associated with other products that had certain rules (such as, for example, that the intangible product could not be purchased alone, but always had to be associated with a physical product). All the logistics of creating the catalog were done so that they could integrate with their ERP and all the modifications were made at the frontend level so that the intangible purchase experience would be optimal.
Results
- After three months of work, Marcimex is now operating with three sellers in an optimal and fully integrated way, allowing it to expand its catalog using third party catalogs.
- Marcimex already offers four pick-up points in Guayaquil and Quito that allow users to make the purchase on the web and pick up the product at the store in less than one business day. It works with franchise accounts and whitelabel seller mode in VTEX.
- We were able to reduce by 40% the response time of the web site both in the home page and in the categories and products pages.
- Since the end of 2020, the company has been selling intangible products in its online store with conversion rates of more than 5%.
