Known Online was able to integrate the logistics distribution company in Chile with Vtex in order to automate processes and offer a better service to its customers.
When starting an online store, probably the biggest expense we are going to have is related to logistics but if it is managed efficiently it can become one of the main assets of our Ecommerce business. To achieve this it is important to have an ecommerce platform that allows the integration and automation of logistics processes because when the sales volume is low the management of orders can be done manually but, as the business grows, the automation of processes becomes very necessary.
Being able to integrate with other IT systems will solve much of the work that would otherwise be manual. In other words, it will facilitate operations, reduce human time and effort, and reduce operational errors. This is why it is so important if we plan to operate with large sales volumes.
Blue Express Case
That was the case of Blue Express, a logistics distribution solutions company with a presence throughout Chile. The company, with more than 10 years of experience, provides outsourcing services in physical distribution, warehousing, inventory management and international courier. This includes value-added services such as order processing, tracking, labeled packaging and much more.
Blue Express contacted Known Online as they needed to start a digital transformation process where they could automatically integrate with the main Ecommerce systems in Chile as they were previously doing all the logistics processes (order loading and package labeling process) manually. This implied that the work was very complex and cumbersome and also left the company without the possibility of growing on a large scale.
Blue Express integration with VTEX
For a month we worked on the integration process between Blue Express and VTEX. The goal was to create an environment and set up automated processes so that every time an order comes in, there is no human intervention in the general process of loading orders and planning deliveries, but rather it is prepared directly and automatically.
The following items were automated:
- Receipt of orders
- Inclusion of orders within Blue Eexpress
- Receipt of tracking codes
- Inclusion of tracking and in-order data in Vtex
- Order status update within Vtex
- Label generation
- Pricing of shipments
- Creation of pickup points
After this automation process, e-Commerce companies only have to upload their Vtex store data and their Blue Express account data and the system takes care of automating the entire logistics process in real time.
Results obtained
- The integration process between Blue Express and Vtex took one month to complete.
- It is a development that is already working and that allows any Vtex store in Chile to automate its logistics process with Blue Express.
- It has an uptime of 99.99%.
- This allows the online store to concentrate solely on selling and also allows it to scale as its operation will not be affected if it grows suddenly as is currently happening in the wake of the coronavirus.
