Case Study: Measuring HR actions for Mercado Libre

Mercado Libre is the leader in E-commerce in Latin America and the eighth most visited in the world. The company, which was founded in Buenos Aires 20 years ago, is now present in 18 countries in the region with more than 267.8 million users.

Initial situation and customer problem

Mercado Libre uses Facebook’s Workspace portal for internal human resources communication with its employees. This platform allows all the staff of a company to be permanently connected through their mobile devices and aims to improve business productivity, facilitating and professionalizing internal communication in a friendly way.

The problem was that, being a third party portal, they did not have the ability to measure how people interacted with those links they placed within the platform since Workspace does not provide such information.

Client’s need

Mercado Libre needed a custom development for their human resources team so they could measure how their own staff interacted with the links they placed within the platform they use for internal communication.

What solution did Known Online propose?

Known Online, based on Mercado Libre’s specific needs, evaluated how technology could help solve their problems. It then developed a system that has a user interface where the Mercado Libre administrator loads the links they want to share and adds various data they want to incorporate, such as the destination platform, the user group, the type of link, the issuing country, etc.

The platform returns a URL that they share in Workspace from Facebook and that allows them to measure the use of this platform with Google Analitycs, where they have the data of all the behavior of the users, how they interact with the links they post and what characteristics those people have.

In this way, they adapted a functionality that, in principle, belonged to third parties and generated their own measurement system.

Results

  • We developed the interface system that measures the use that Mercado Libre employees have by interacting with links that they post on Workspace from Facebook.
  • This allows Mercado Libre to have a complete detail of the performance of the publications that the human resources team is sharing to improve the quality or type of content.
  • The work was completed in 30 days.
